Leaking Classrooms at U.L, A Call for Urgent Action

Monrovia, Liberia- Verity investigation has uncovered that students at the State-run University are enduring challenging learning conditions due to persistent infrastructure issues, particularly at both the Capitol Hill and Fendall Campuses.

A video footage in the possession of Verity investigative team showed students sitting in leaking classrooms, while acquiring knowledge.

This indicates that classrooms are overwhelmed by leaking roofs, forcing students to relocate during rainstorms to avoid water damage.

This situation has also raised concerns about the university’s commitment to providing a conducive learning environment for its many students across the country.

A student attending the University, Fendell Campus, who asked for anonymity expressed frustration, stating that they are struggling to learn here under harsh and difficult circumstances.

“When it rains, students have to find alternative seating as the classrooms become uninhabitable,” the anonymous source asserted.

The students are calling on the U.L administration to prioritize renovation and infrastructural development, similar to those undertaken by other institutions.

The Fendall Campus, now hosting nearly all undergraduate colleges except the College of Business, has become overcrowded.

Students also reported the shortage of seating, with many in search of their own chairs on almost every class day.

Additionally, transportation remains a significant challenge, with only two buses available for approximately 20,000 students, leading to delays and increased reliance on commercial transport, mostly for Fendall students.

Despite these pressing issues, the university’s administration has yet to provide a comprehensive response.

As the rainy season progresses, students and faculty alike hope for swift action from the administration to address these critical issues and restore the university’s reputation as a leading institution of higher learning.
