River Gee County | May 21, 2026 | Authorities of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency – LDEA, River Gee detachment, have arrested three individuals, including a town chief, following a major anti-drug operation in Sherriken, Upper Tienpo statutory district, River Gee County.
The operation was carried out on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, by officers of the LDEA River Gee detachment headed by Deputy Commander Special Agent Emmanuel S. Masseh.
The raid was conducted in collaboration with a court sheriff assigned at the Gbeapo Kanweaken City Magisterial Court under a legally approved search and seizure warrant.
Among those arrested was Sherriken Town Chief, Taye T. Weah, 63, who was allegedly found in possession of 2.5 kilograms of compressed marijuana and one kilogram of marijuana seeds.
According to LDEA investigators, the substances have an estimated street value of L$83,250.
Another suspect, identified as Shadrach Tweh, 46, also a resident of Sherriken, was reportedly arrested with 3.5 kilograms of compressed marijuana.
Authorities estimated the street value of the narcotics at approximately L$63,750. While, a third suspect, Oretha Sieh, 46, was also apprehended during the raid.
The LDEA disclosed that officers discovered 1.5 kilograms of compressed marijuana allegedly in her possession, valued at an estimated L$27,750.
In total, the seized marijuana and related substances carry an estimated street value of L$174,750, making it one of the latest significant drug-related arrests in River Gee County.
All three suspects are currently undergoing intensive investigation at the LDEA headquarters in Fish-Town and are expected to be formally charged and forwarded to court for prosecution in accordance with Liberia’s drug laws.
The latest arrests highlight the ongoing efforts of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency to combat the illegal drug trade across the country, particularly in rural communities where authorities say narcotics trafficking continues to pose serious social and security concerns.
