AJURL Signed MOU With OWECC-L To Help Boost Visibilities For Court’s Activities

The Association of Judicial Reportets of Liberia (AJURL) has signed a landmark agreement with The Office for the establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court to help boost visibilities for the court’s activities.

The Association of Judicial Reportets of Liberia (AJURL) comprised of journalists assigned at different courts across the country.

The latest agreement seeks to establish cooperative working relationship for the purpose of enhancing the transparency, documentation and reporting of war and economic crimes trials while promoting the rule of law, justice and accountability.

At the signing ceremony on Wednesday, AJURL President Madam Yassah J. Wright welcomed the signing of the agreement.

Madam Wright promised to ensure that her institution executes every part of the agreement.

Madam Wright added that Judicial Reporters across the country are prepared to adequately inform the Liberian populace on the workings of the court.

“We do know that the office of the War and Economic Crimes Court aims to prosecute persons and organizations responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the Liberian Civil War” AJURL President noted.

Madam Wright express sincere gratitude for the cooperation and collaboration.

She also prays for a successful execution of their respective obligations.

For his part, the Head of the Office for the Establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court Jallah Barbu emphasized the inclusive and participatory nature of Liberia’s transitional justice process.

He noted that sustainable peace and accountability can only be achieved when all voices are heard and all communities are actively involved.

Cllr. Barbu said he was delighted to enter into such agreement with the Association of Judicial Reportets of Liberia (AJURL).

Dr. Barbu revealed that OWECC-L remains committed to fostering partnerships that strengthen public trust, promote transparency, and ensure that Liberia’s past is addressed in a manner that secures a more just and peaceful future for all.

The signing ceremony brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the Press Union of Liberia, Bless Foundation, the Federation of Liberian Youth, the National Bureau of Veteran Affairs, West Point Community, the Association of Judicial Reporters of Liberia, AWANGA, Liberia Muslim Women, and the Rescue Band Unit, among others.

This collaboration signals a united front in the pursuit of justice, accountability, and national healing.
