FAWUL Embattled Chairman Sues Advisor Over Alleged Privacy Violation Amid Union Leadership Crisis

By Emmanuel M Kangar Jr.

The embattled Chairman of the Firestone Agricultural Workers Union of Liberia (FAWUL), Rodennick Bongorlee, has reportedly filed a legal complaint against one of his advisors, Dixon Mulbah, at the Bondiway Magisterial Court in Margibi County for alleged violation of privacy.

According to reports, the complaint stems from allegations that Mulbah removed Bongorlee’s pay statement from his office without authorization and later distributed the document to other individuals.

The legal action comes amid growing tensions within FAWUL, where Majority Workplace Representatives recently passed a vote of no confidence in Chairman Bongorlee and Secretary Foday Bangura.

The representatives outlined eight allegations against the union leaders, including lack of accountability, loss of representative status, conflict of interest, failure to support union solidarity, undermining the union’s position, obstruction of union activities, nepotism, and disregard for collective decisions.

Several workplace representatives also accused Bongorlee of siding with company management against union members, including FAWUL Co-chair Winston Ford and other workers who were reportedly declared redundant by the management of Firestone Liberia.

Workers reportedly used the controversial pay slip from the Industrial Relations Department, bearing ID Number 8420, as evidence to support claims that Bongorlee had allegedly lost his representative status within the union.

The matter is currently before the Bondiway Magisterial Court as internal disputes within the union continue to deepen.
