More than ten journalists were barred from re-entering a regular session of the House of Representatives after interviewing Representative Yekeh Kolubah.
The journalists had spoken with Rep. Kolubah regarding his refusal to recognize Hon. Richard N. Koon as Speaker.
This position stems from an earlier confrontation between Kolubah and supporters of the contentious Speakership, which has drawn sharp divides within the legislature.
Restricting journalists’ access has sparked concerns about press freedom and government transparency. Critics argue that such measures undermine the public’s right to information, eroding trust in the democratic process and stifling accountability.
Observers warn that denying reporters access to legislative proceedings sets a troubling precedent.
They emphasize the necessity of a free press to ensure accurate reporting, foster public discourse, and uphold the principles of democracy.
