Monrovia, Liberia–The Secretary General of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), and former Mayor of Monrovia City Government Jefferson T. Koijee, has issued a fiery condemnation of the Executive Protection Service (EPS), calling its latest press release an “empty bluff,” “morally bankrupt,” and “a betrayal of the Republic.”
Koijee, speaking on behalf of what he described as “the revolutionary forces and the conscious community of the opposition,” dismissed the April 30, 2025, EPS memo as “shameful, hollow, and politically motivated.”
He further labeled EPS Director Sam Gaye as a “classical joker,” a “morally bankrupt puppet,” and “a frail, spineless bureaucrat” accused of sacrificing national integrity for partisan loyalty.
“The statement issued by the EPS is a disgrace to our constitutional order,” Koijee declared.
According to him, the EPS statement is devoid of legal substance and rooted in cowardice, meant solely to intimidate those who continue to resist the slide into authoritarianism.
Reaffirming the opposition’s right to self-defense, Koijee vowed that the CDC and allied movements are fully ready to provide security for their leadership, supporters, and the general public.
He criticized the EPS for operating as what he called “a private militia for the blood-stained Unity Party regime,” alleging that state security forces have been weaponized to protect a political class that rules by coercion rather than consent.
“This regime uses blood money to unravel the fabric of our democracy,” he said. “The EPS is now an agent of chaos, acting as a tool for an administration desperate to sustain power through fear, not legitimacy,” he asserted.
Koijee warned all state security institutions to refrain from becoming pawns in the hands of alleged political criminals, while urging them to abandon these laughable shows of force and intimidation.
The CDC Secretary General highlighted that the EPS constitutional mandate is to protect the Republic, and not a political elite.
In a rallying call to the Liberian populace, Koijee evoked historical resistance to tyranny, asserting that the people of Liberia will rise again, “stronger, louder, and more determined than ever before.”
“This land belongs to the people,” he concluded. “No recycled dictatorship will outlast the resolve of the masses. History is on our side. Viva the resistance. Viva democracy. Viva Liberia,” he concluded.
