The groundbreaking ceremony of the Mandikoma to Voinjama road corridor, valued at thirty-five million United States dollars (US$35,000,000), took place yesterday, Saturday, May 23, 2026, in Mandikoma Town, Foya District, Lofa Co.
Citizen throughout the length and birth of Lofa County gathered en masse to grace the colorful occasion and extolled President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for his commitment to genuine national development especially road infrastructure intended to link major county capital cities.
President Boakai officially broke ground for the project in the presence of authorities from the Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Local Government, Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, and local chiefs and elders.
The project is funded by a consortium of Arab lenders—including the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID), the Saudi Fund for Development, and the Kuwait Fund—alongside the African Development Bank and the Government of Liberia. It is implemented by a Sierra Leonean engineering and construction firm PAVIFORT.
