Reports have emerged alleging that US$50,000 allocated for the construction of the headquarters of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) cannot be accounted for, sparking controversy within the party. The allegation surfaced following the suspension of Abraham Askie from the CDC building construction team.
In a strongly worded statement, Askie suggested that more revelations were forthcoming, writing: “The US$50K accountability issue, my sweet name in their mouth, the purported suspension letter from a Lilliputian, the subsequent expulsion letter from Israel, and the ensuing unexpected fight. Something is about to explode.”
Askie also accused CDC National Chairman Janga Kowo of receiving US$50,000 to facilitate the selection of Alexander Cummings, political leader of the Alternative National Congress (ANC), as a keynote speaker, alleging that the funds remain unaccounted for. The CDC leadership has not publicly responded to the allegations, and no independent evidence has yet been presented to substantiate the claims.
